IDB_a030_fluidLeakDetected

The Integrated Dynamic Brake (IDB) has detected a hydraulic brake fluid leak.

Live incidence rate

<0.01% (Extremely rare)

Vehicle messages

Power braking assist reduced
Braking may require increased effort

Impact

Only Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) may be available. In the event of a primary chamber internal leakage or leakage on both external circuits, the IDB may enter fallback mode and relinquish controlling status to the Redundant Control Unit (RCU). The RCU may assume controlling status and perform backup brake boost, but Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Brake Traction Control (BTC), Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC), Panic Brake Assist (PBA), Hydraulic Fade Compenration (HFC), Controlled Deceleration via Parking brake (CDP), Brake Disc Wipe (BDW), External Brake Request (EBR), and Secondary Collision Mitigation (SCM) may be unavailable. Increased braking effort may be necessary to achieve desired deceleration. The vehicle should be driven with extreme caution.

Description

The Integrated Dynamic Brake (IDB) has detected a hydraulic brake fluid leak.

Cause

The IDB detects an internal or external hydraulic brake fluid leak or detects air in the hydraulic system.

Clear condition

External leaks are no longer detected during operation, or internal leaks are no longer detected during the next hydraulic testing phase on startup or shutdown. The brakes may require bleeding. If the condition persists, the IDB module, brake lines, jounce hoses, or brake calipers may require repair or replacement.
