Description

The vehicle gateway (GTW) has not received an expected system status message from the secondary Electronic Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS3S) electronic control unit (ECU) via the controller area network (CAN) within the required time period, indicating the EPAS3S ECU may be unavailable and power steering may be limited or unavailable.

Cause

The GTW does not receive the system status CAN message from EPAS3S ECU during 5 consecutive message cycles (for 50ms) while the vehicle is in Drive.

Clear condition

The GTW receives the system status CAN message from EPAS3S ECU as expected. Clears automatically when the vehicle exits Drive, and may be resolved completely (does not set again) when starting the next drive cycle.
