Impact

EPAS steering features remain enabled using safe speed. External angle control is inhibited. Steering features include: Friction Manager, Freezing Detection and Retention, Active Damping, Assist Limiter and Position Limiter, Column Torque Controller, Controlled Return (or Active Return), Controlled Stickiness Compensation, Lane Departure Warning, Oscillation Compensation (this feature is currently tuned out) , Pull Drift Compensation, Soft Catch Up Emulation, Steering Support, Virtual End-Lock

This alert is reported by the AssistActivationDeactivation_T222 (AAD) component when safe vehicle speed assist applied on Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS).

Cause

EPAS vehicle speed signal is not reliable or available (CRC/Counter/MIA error on DI_speed message or DI_VelocityEstimatorState message is received with VE_STATE_NOT_INITIALIZED or VE_STATE_BACKUP_MOTOR)

Clear condition

DI_speed valid message is received and DI_VelocityEstimatorState message is received with VE_STATE_WHEELS_NORMAL, VE_STATE_WHEELS_REDUCED, VE_STATE_BACKUP_WHEELS_A or VE_STATE_BACKUP_WHEELS_B.
